You may have questions, so let me see can I answer some of them
here. Please read this entire page.
1. Dress Code. This is not your usual fancy wedding. But we know
you want an excuse to go shopping, so here it is.
Wedding Ceremony
Very casual. Terry will be wearing shorts and a tuxedo top. Same
with our ring bearers. I will be wearing some sort of white outfit.
It may even be a dress. But immediately after the ceremony we will
both be changing into rafting clothes. For me that's shorts and
a tee-shirt.
You can wear your rafting clothes to the ceremony or change when
we do. No matter what you choose to wear, please leave the heels
at home.
Hmm. Sunburn. We'll be outside with little shade. Nothing says
summer wedding like a big floppy hat. Go for it.
Reception
You wanted to go shopping, didn't you? Here's your chance to show
off those treasures. I plan to wear a white dress to the reception,
something along the lines of a sun dress. And I'm going to take
a shower before I put it on. You can wear anything you want, as
long as it is NOT a white dress. And again, no heels.
2. About the rafting. The first section we will be running is relatively
calm water. It's quite beautiful, and very relaxing. The one significant
rapid on this section is even avoidable, so your raft may go around
it if necessary.
The second section is much bigger water, so if you aren't very
comfortable on water, you are welcome to opt out of that section.
I promise not to give you too much grief.
3. Acts of God, however you interpret Him or Her. The normal level
for the river in late June is not particularly high, but runnable.
If the river is at what we consider a dangerous level, the under
12 group will not be going rafting. No exceptions.
If this is the case, we may simply change the sections we run.
We'll have to see when we get there. Hopefully things will be about
normal this year.
4. Rain. We like rain. Hopefully you do as well. If there is a
light rain, we'll do things the way they are planned. There's a
shelter at Dunglen. If there is just way too much rain for an outside
wedding, the whole thing will be moved to the Ponderosa Lodge. But,
do not assume that just because it's raining that the ceremony has
been moved. We will let you know.
Rafting in the rain is a lot of fun if you come prepared. Hint
hint. Bring a breathable rain jacket. Hopefully you won't need it.
5. Bringing the uninvited date. Sorry. We do not have room for
your uninvited date. This is a rafting trip after all. Listing your
uninvited date on your response card as a rafter WILL NOT WORK.
No exceptions. Please do not put your friends in this position.
6. Tricking your friends into substituting your uninvited date
for an invitee who can not attend will not fly. Wedding invitations
are non-transferable.
7. Registry. If you still like us after 5 and 6 above, we have
registered at Crate & Barrel.
